Hi, I have been watching videos from drone flights with the drones flying over houses and private property and love what I see but I thought I read that drone operators have to have permission of the land owners to fly over private property. Will someone help me understand this please? Thanks!
Flying a drone over someone’s land has rules. These rules change based on where you are, like the country or local area. In the U.S., for instance, you can usually fly a drone over someone’s land if you follow the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules. But you can’t invade people’s privacy, damage their stuff, or endanger anyone’s life.
The distinction between legal and ethical considerations is crucial in this context. Although airspace isn’t technically owned, flying a drone over private property without consent raises significant privacy issues. It’s wise to proceed with caution and honor boundaries, even if legality permits recording from a public vantage point. Keep in mind that actions with ethical implications can erode trust and harm relationships.
