Canidrone… Does this app make flying drones safer?

Edit: Just remembered to mention it’s mobile-only for now!

For Christmas, I made a project called Drone Guardian (canidrone.com). It’s a free, no-ads site that:

  • Checks weather conditions in real-time for your location
  • Compares wind speeds to your drone’s limits
  • Tells you if it’s safe to fly using simple visuals
  • Has a detailed pre-flight safety checklist

I came up with the idea after I got my Mini 3 and spent hours trying to figure out the safest way to fly it. I thought there had to be an easier way, so I built this!

It’s still the first version (built in 48 hours), so I’d love any feedback to improve it. Right now, the weather API is pretty basic because of cost, but with enough support, I can upgrade to better weather data for more accurate results.

And about the support button—please don’t feel pressured to use it. This is just my way of giving back to the community. If I get a better job, I’ll cover the premium API myself. :smile:

Try it here: https://canidrone.com/

Let me know what you think and how I can make it better for everyone. Happy flying! :airplane:

Cool app idea! I’ll give it a try.

Thanks so much! Let me know how it works for you.

This is awesome! But I noticed it doesn’t show imperial measurements. Also, my drone isn’t on the list… I’ve got the new Air 3S.

Thanks for pointing that out!

  • Adding imperial conversions to the list.
  • Air 3S will be added too.

Edit: Just added Air 3S!

It’s missing drones like the Enterprise series (M3E, M3T, M2ED, M2EA). I like the concept, though. The app doesn’t work for me at the moment.

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll add those models soon.

It doesn’t have the Mini 4K, and the location search doesn’t work for me.

I’ll add the Mini 4K soon. Can you tell me more about the location search issue? Are you using the exact spelling for your location?

Thanks for the feedback!

@Landry
I tried typing Punta Cana, Madrid, and London, but nothing happens when I hit Search. No request shows in the network tab either. You might want to add something like Google Maps autocomplete—nobody’s going to type out exact spellings.

@Reilly
Are you using a mobile device or a computer? The site is mobile-only right now.

Ah, I was on a desktop. It does work on mobile, though. Never seen something locked by resolution before… that’s a bit awkward. :sweat_smile:

@Reilly
Haha, I know! Working on making it desktop-friendly soon.
