Crashed my Mini 4 Pro… DJI wants the remote too? Why?

Sent my Mini 4 Pro in for repair, and they’re asking me to send the remote as well.

Why would they need the remote if it’s just the drone that’s damaged?

Are you sure you’re dealing with DJI? That doesn’t sound right. DJI usually just asks for flight logs if they need to check for malfunctions.

Yeah, something seems off… did you check the website and email carefully?

@Reese
If the email isn’t from an official @dji.com address, that’s a massive red flag. I wouldn’t send them anything until you confirm it’s legit.

If it’s FedEx and you’re in North America, this doesn’t look like the official DJI service team. When I sent mine in last year, all my emails were from na@dji.com.

How did you even find this repair service? Serious question—I always wonder how people run into scams like this.

Probably clicked the first Google result, which might have been a scam ad.

They definitely don’t need the remote. I sent my Mini 3 in about a month ago—just the drone, no battery—and three days later they sent me a brand new replacement. Used Care Refresh for it, no issues.

That’s not DJI. Be careful…

Yeah, this sounds like a scam.

They might just want to check flight logs. But honestly, if they’re going to send you a whole new unit anyway, just send the remote in and be done with it.

Every time I’ve used DJI’s official repair, they asked for the remote too. No idea why, but it seems to be normal.

Probably for flight logs?

They usually don’t need the remote unless there’s a chance the issue is with the controller.

If the drone wasn’t connecting to the remote, it could be a remote issue, but most of the time it’s the drone itself.

Also, are you sure you’re using DJI’s official repair service? Please double-check. DJI’s repair service is great and not too expensive, so I’d stick with them over a third-party repair shop.

Something seems off. Go to DJI’s official website and contact them directly before you send anything.

Maybe they just want to make sure the drone and remote pair properly after fixing it?
