I have been looking at the DJI Action 5 Pro and the GoPro Hero 13, and I’m wondering which one’s better for FPV drones. Both have great features, but I’m torn between them! Anyone got any personal experiences or thoughts on which one to go with?
I’ve been using the GoPro Hero 13 and the 5.3K resolution is no joke. It’s pretty amazing, but DJI’s colors look so much better straight out of the box. Thoughts?

For sure! DJI’s color grading is just more natural and you don’t have to do much editing if you’re posting to Instagram or whatever. GoPro needs more work, imo.

Yeah, I’ve heard DJI has better dynamic range too, especially for FPV footage. The larger sensor definitely helps with that, right?

Yup, exactly! DJI’s got that 1/1.3” sensor compared to GoPro’s 1/1.9”. You can really see the difference in low light. DJI pulls ahead for night shots, hands down.
DJI definitely wins in battery life. I get almost double the time compared to my GoPro. That’s a game changer for longer shoots!

About 180 minutes in 4K recording. GoPro Hero 13 only manages around 110 minutes. Big difference if you’re flying FPV!
DJI’s got that magnetic mount though… So much easier than GoPro’s setup. Anyone else feel like GoPro’s mounts are outdated?

Totally agree! Switching between mounts on GoPro feels like it’s stuck in 2010 lol.

Yeah, but for FPV drones, I still like GoPro’s mounting fingers. They feel more secure, especially when using a 3D-printed mount.
Bitrate is another thing to consider. GoPro Hero 13’s 120Mbps with the option to go up to 200Mbps with GoPro Labs is huge if you care about that. DJI’s stuck at 100Mbps for now.

Does bitrate make that much of a difference though? I feel like YouTube compresses the hell out of everything anyway.

It can, but yeah, if your final video is going on YouTube, it’s not a huge deal. More of a preference if you like having higher quality raw footage.
If you’re planning on using your cam for underwater shots, DJI wins again. Waterproof up to 20 meters vs GoPro’s 10 meters.

Plus DJI’s got depth gauges and stuff for scuba diving. More useful if you’re into underwater stuff.
