DJI Avata 2 Speed Question

I know you can only go around 35 mph with the motion controller, but I’ve heard you can hit 60 mph with the new manual controller. Do you need to be in full manual mode to reach those speeds, or can you still use GPS assist? I’m in the US, not the EU.

Yes, you need to be in full manual mode to hit 60 mph with the Avata 2. Here are the specs: DJI Avata 2 - FPV Drone - Specs - DJI

Thanks! This is exactly what I needed!

Max Horizontal Speed
(near sea level, no wind)
8 m/s (Normal mode)
16 m/s (Sport mode)
27 m/s (Manual mode)*

  • Max 19 m/s in EU regions.

That works out to about 60 mph in manual mode. Thanks again!

Yep, you can only hit 60 mph in full manual. In sport mode, with the O4 manual controller, it maxes out at about 46 mph. I’m new to FPV too and still practicing on simulators before unlocking full manual mode!

I just got my Avata 2 and flew it yesterday. Had no idea it could go 60 mph! I was doing 35 mph and thought that was crazy. Guess I’ll be pushing it a bit more now!

In FPV terms, ‘Acro’ is Manual mode, ‘Horizon’ is Normal/Sport mode, and ‘Angle’ is Normal mode. Traditional FPV quads can go up to 150-200 mph in full acro mode. The DJI Avata and A2 are like training wheels for FPV—full acro can hit 35 mph for Avata, while the DJI FPV can get close to 90 mph.

Once you hit the stop button, the assist kicks in, no matter what mode you’re in.

There are plenty of people hitting 60+ mph with the Avata 2, so your explanation doesn’t quite add up. They’re not using hacks or flying in the EU. I get that it’s meant to be challenging, but these speeds are possible!

Is the max speed in Normal mode and Sport mode only 15 mph with the FPV RC 3? Do I need to turn off attitude mode to go faster?
