DJI Flip drone... worth it for beginners?

Just saw the DJI Flip is out at $439. It’s got this wild bicycle-spoke look and folds up. It even powers on when you unfold it! Looks like it’s aimed at beginners, but IDK if it’s worth the price. Anyone here tried it yet or thinking about it?

I saw that too! The hand-launch thing sounds cool, but does it really work well in practice?

Yeah, I’m curious about that too. I imagine it’s convenient, but I’d be scared of messing up the launch lol.

It actually works pretty smoothly! I tried something similar with another DJI drone, and it’s a neat feature.

Anyone know if this thing is quiet? My neighbors already hate the sound of drones buzzing around. :joy:

From what I read, it’s not the quietest. Even with the ducted propellers, it’s still pretty loud.

Yikes, might have to pass then. Thanks for the heads-up!

Is the camera good enough for photography? I’m more into taking cool stills than video.

Yeah, the 48MP stills should be solid, especially in good lighting. It’s not pro-level, but it’s decent for the price.

48MP? Nice, that’s better than I expected! Might just pull the trigger on this.

IDK why they skipped FPV support. For $439, you’d think it’d have that. Kinda lame. :unamused:

Yeah, I was disappointed by that too. Guess they’re trying to keep it super beginner-friendly?

Maybe, but even beginners would love the option to use FPV. Oh well.

The battery life is 31 minutes, right? Is that good for this price range?

Yeah, 31 minutes is solid! Most drones around this price usually get 20-25 mins tops.

Cool, thanks! Might grab one just for the extra flight time.
