DJI marked my home as an authorization zone… can I remove it?

So DJI suddenly marked my home as an authorization zone, but there are no planes or anything nearby. No military bases, airports, or anything like that. Is there a way to request a change? I’m in Mexico, and just asking if it’s possible to get DJI to adjust this so it’s not over my property. Regulations aren’t the problem—I’m flying a small drone under 250g, so no license needed as long as I’m not near restricted areas. Sent an email to customer service and will update once I hear back!

Does this zone show up on other apps too? What kind of zone is it?

What do you mean?

Which country are you in? Depending on that, check your civil aviation authority’s no-fly zone map.

@Tegan
I’m in Mexico. From what I know, I can fly a drone as long as it’s under 250g and not in restricted areas like airports, military bases, or stadiums.

From what I know, Mexico doesn’t even have an official map of flight restrictions! Seems like DJI might have messed this one up.

@Tegan
Yeah, I emailed support to see if I can get some sort of official response. I’ll keep this thread updated!

If DJI doesn’t remove the zone, you can request a one-year authorization through their FlySafe website. That way, you won’t have to unlock it every time you want to fly. The website might also give you more info about why your spot is marked as a restricted zone.

You could try rolling back the FlySafe database update using DJI’s assistant program. They often put no-fly zones or restrictions randomly; I once had a non-existent runway added that blocked my usual spot. No reason for it at all.

DJI doesn’t set the zones themselves; they just follow what’s issued by local air traffic control. In my area, new zones popped up because of delivery drones. Always worth checking your country’s official drone map.

@Blake
DJI does sometimes create their own zones without clear reasons, except for some European countries where they’re forced to stick to official maps.

Got it, thanks for clarifying.

It’s literally just a bubble around my property in the middle of nowhere.

Have you been misbehaving with your drone? :joy:

Haha, no, I rarely fly and mostly indoors. My dad visited with his drone, and that’s when we noticed this random blue bubble over my house.

@Zen
Post your GPS coordinates… let’s see!

That’s super odd…

@Ty
Sorry, I’m not in the US. I’ll update my main post with the details.

@Ty
Yep, just sent an email to DJI support. I’ll keep everyone posted on this weird situation.
