I watched a range test on YouTube for the drone I recently bought, and the person had no trouble getting it over 10,000 feet over water. My drone is supposed to have a 10km range, but I can’t even reach 1,500 feet before the video starts lagging, and the range meter drops to yellow with 2-3 bars.
I live in a heavily wooded area with lots of tall trees and hills where I fly. Could the hills and trees be causing such a short signal range? It feels like my range is way too low regardless. Is my drone defective? Should I consider returning it for a new one?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Yes, hills and trees can obstruct your drone’s signal, drastically reducing range. Clear line-of-sight is crucial for maximum distance. Try flying in an open area to test the range. If it still underperforms, consider returning or exchanging it.
