So DJI just dropped the Neo selfie drone for $199, and it’s supposed to take selfies and vlogging to a whole new level. This thing is super light at only 135 grams but still packs a punch. It can shoot 4K video at 30fps and 1080P at 60fps, plus it’s got a 12-megapixel camera with a gimbal to keep things steady. You can launch it with just a button press and it has these cool AI tracking modes to follow you around. Anyone else curious about this? Seems like it could be great for casual filming, but IDK about the range and battery life… thoughts?
I’ve been looking at this too! That price seems decent for a 4K drone that’s so portable. But 18 minutes of flight time seems kinda short… anyone else think that’s too little?

Yeah, 18 mins isn’t much. You’d have to keep charging it if you’re doing anything more than quick shots. Plus, the 50m range without a controller feels limiting.
@Jade
Exactly! It’s probably okay for quick vlogs or selfies, but not for anything more serious. The 10km range with a controller is cool though… if you’re willing to buy it separately.
The 22GB storage is a bit on the low side for 4K, right? I feel like I’d constantly be offloading footage… Anyone know how quick the transfer is to the app?

According to Tom’s Guide, it only takes a few minutes to transfer your videos using the DJI Fly app, so it’s not too bad. Just gotta remember to do it after every flight.
@Nico
Oh cool, that’s not bad at all. Guess I could live with it. Thanks for the heads up!
IDK, the single-axis gimbal sounds kinda basic. Does it really make a difference for keeping the footage steady or is it just meh?

It’s not perfect, but it definitely helps compared to no gimbal. You won’t get super cinematic shots, but it’ll keep your vlogs from looking too shaky.
@Ridley
Fair point. I guess it’s good enough for the price. Thanks for clarifying!
The AI tracking sounds awesome for running or walking vids. But can it keep up if you move fast? Anyone tested this yet?

It’s decent for slow to moderate speeds. If you’re sprinting, it might struggle a bit to keep up, especially if it loses line of sight.
@Dallas
Good to know! Guess I’ll keep my runs slow if I wanna use this
