DJI told me to cancel my order… anyone else?

DJI customer service just called and told me to cancel my order for a Flip because the warehouse has no stock and no idea when they’ll get more. They also said they can’t guarantee anything shipping to the US will even arrive.

I asked if other models were available and if I could order one of those instead. The response was basically, ‘We don’t know what we have until you place an order, and we can’t check.’ Didn’t sound like a good sign.

They suggested only ordering from US-based sellers like Adorama, Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, and Apple. Has anyone else had this happen?

If you’re in the US, Adorama or Best Buy are your safest bets. They usually have stock updates and you won’t have to deal with customs.

DJI gave you good advice. I ordered a Flip on 2/28, and it’s been stuck at customs since 3/4. Canceled and got a refund. Ordered from Adorama last Thursday, and it was delivered by Monday.

Same here. Had two drones stuck in customs for a month. Ordered from Adorama instead, and it arrived in four days with no issues.

Appreciate the advice! I decided to take another shot and ordered from Amazon because the Fly More combo was nearly $200 off ($599 US). Couldn’t pass up the deal. If this doesn’t work out, I’ll go with Adorama next.

When I first tried to order, Adorama had backorders until May, so I went with DJI direct.

Edit: Added US dollars.

That sounds like a sketchy seller. Be careful—it’s not shipped or sold by Amazon.

Yeah, I thought about that. DJI actually recommended Amazon, and last week they were selling for full price. My guess is they refunded a bunch of people due to customs delays, and now they’re hoping to get those returns into an American warehouse to resell. Hoping I get lucky.

The seller has a 27% rating… definitely not worth the risk.
