Does the FAA actually know when I fly my drone?

Does anyone know if this Remote ID thing applies internationally or just in the U.S.?

Good question! It’s mostly U.S. right now. Other countries have different rules, but I think Remote ID is catching on worldwide.

@Kip
Got it! I guess we’ll see if this spreads to Europe and beyond.

FRIA sites are still a thing, right? Do we need Remote ID at those?

Yep, FRIA (FAA-Recognized Identification Areas) are places where you can fly without Remote ID. They’re usually in model airplane fields or some parks.

I think I’ll just stick to flying my under-250 gram drone. No Remote ID, no hassle!

Smart move! Less paperwork, plus you don’t have to worry about violating Remote ID rules.

What’s everyone using to check if their area is restricted or not? I get paranoid about accidentally flying somewhere I shouldn’t.

B4UFLY app from the FAA is pretty solid. It shows restricted areas and even controlled airspace near airports.

@Rohan
Thanks! I’ll check that out. Last thing I need is a surprise fine!

Can’t believe we’re getting to the point where even drones need digital IDs. Makes me wonder what’s next!

Haha, right? I get it for safety, but sometimes it feels like overkill for hobbyists.

Anyone know if Remote ID modules will stay in stock? I’ve seen them go out of stock a lot lately.

That’s a worry. With the March deadline, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re hard to find again.

Are the fines for breaking Remote ID rules super high?

Not 100% sure, but fines can be steep depending on where you’re flying and the severity. Better safe than sorry!
