Hey everyone! So I’m getting more into flying my drone, and now I’m thinking it might be smart to get some insurance. I’m just trying to protect my gear and maybe get some liability coverage just in case. Does anyone here use drone insurance? Any recommendations?
I went with BWI Fly because they offer super high coverage options, like up to $25 million. Kinda overkill, but I feel covered, lol.

Whoa, $25 million? That’s crazy high. Is it only for big commercial projects?
@Kip
Nah, not just commercial! They have options for both commercial and recreational users. Just depends on what you need.
@Kip
Sounds intense… What does BWI cover exactly?
They cover a lot! You can get liability, property damage, even damage to the drone itself. And you can add stuff like advertising liability if you’re doing shoots for clients.
I use SkyWatch.AI. I only need it when I fly for gigs, so I love that they offer hourly coverage. Plus, they have an app to set it up fast.

Hourly coverage? That’s actually perfect for me. Do you know if they cover international flights?
@Rafe
They don’t cover international flights, unfortunately. It’s just within the U.S., and hourly plans cover specific spots you pick. Monthly and yearly plans cover more areas though.

Yeah, I use SkyWatch too! The app makes it so easy. They also cover up to $10 million if you ever need that much.
If you just fly for fun, Thimble’s a solid choice. They have on-demand insurance and give you proof of coverage right in the app.

So like, just casual insurance when you’re not working?
@Jamie
Exactly! It’s great if you’re just a hobbyist and don’t need year-round insurance. You can even get it for a day.

I’ve heard Thimble doesn’t offer annual plans, though. Only monthly or on-demand?
@Rowen
Yeah, no annuals. But if you’re only flying occasionally, it works well. Monthly starts around $41, so not too bad.
Anyone using DroneInsurance.com? I heard they offer global coverage, which might be good if you travel a lot.

Yeah, they’re pretty cool if you’re traveling outside the U.S. Just remember they don’t cover everywhere—like New York and some states aren’t covered either.
@Zane
Interesting! Do they include coverage for stuff like my extra drone batteries and controllers?

Yup, you can get coverage for all your equipment! They have add-ons for things like physical damage to the drone and extra accessories.
If you’re flying for events like weddings, Avion is a solid pick. They’re more for pros, especially for covering your camera gear along with the drone.
