My husband and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary this December. He’s really into tech, and a friend of ours has the DJI Mini 2. I’ve been looking at DJI drones as a gift.
Would you recommend the DJI Mini 3 or the DJI Mini 4 Pro? Or should I wait for something new? I’ve heard new drones might be coming soon.
Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried looking through the forum but didn’t find anything specific.
The rule with tech is that there’s always something new on the way, so don’t wait too long. The new drone coming is the Air 3s, but it’s going to be over $1,000.
Between the Mini 3 and Mini 4, I’d go for the Mini 3. It has a better camera and more features. Definitely get Care Refresh if it’s your first drone, it’s a lot of fun! Enjoy!

If your husband is into adrenaline and speed, you might want to check out the FPV drones like the Avata 2. They can do everything a Mini can and more.
He does love fast things like motorbikes, so I’ll definitely look into the Avata 2. Thanks for the tip!

I wouldn’t recommend the Avata if you’re new to drones. It’s focused more on the FPV experience with goggles and less on taking smooth footage. The Mini 3 is much easier to use and more versatile. Perfect for beginners!
I’d suggest the Mini 4 Pro with the Fly More bundle, but not the Fly More Plus. The Mini 4 Pro has better obstacle avoidance and longer range than the Mini 3 Pro. Just keep in mind that the Fly More Plus makes the drone heavier than 250g, which might limit where you can fly it depending on the rules in your area. The regular Fly More bundle is a good balance, with 3 batteries and a controller that has a screen, which I prefer over using my phone.
If you want something new, definitely buy from DJI directly. The Mini 3 Pro is hard to find in the EU since it’s no longer in production, but you might find one through a third-party seller. If you want to stay in your budget, the Mini 3 Fly More bundle with the RC controller is a great option at around 670€. The RC controller is a nice upgrade, but not essential. Also, going above the Mini size drones in the EU comes with more legal requirements, but it’s not too much of a hassle if your husband doesn’t mind.

Thanks for explaining all of this! I’ve already got my eye on the Mini 3 Fly More combo, and I’ll double-check the legal stuff for flying drones here in Germany. It’s not a big deal for him, but thanks for mentioning it!
I’ve got the Mini 3 and it’s great! It shoots both portrait and landscape, and the quality is amazing. If you need tracking or follow features, the Mini 3 Pro is the way to go. Both are awesome and within a reasonable budget. I’d suggest getting the controller with the built-in screen, it’s so much better than using your phone. The Mini 3 is my go-to drone, and I have 4 others!
