There’s this YouTuber who’s been caught using his drone to spy into a woman’s apartment in Toronto. He comes across as arrogant, thinking that since his drone is under 250g, he can do whatever he likes. In the UK, the CAA says if you accidentally record someone in their home, you should edit it out. But in this case, he wasn’t recording by accident; he was intentionally zooming his drone up and down the apartment block before getting close to her window. When she noticed and turned away, he kept ridiculing those who called him out. He even quotes Canadian law about sub 250g drones. What do you all think
It might not be illegal now, but this guy is the reason it soon will be.

He claims that we’re the ‘Karens’ making the hobby illegal because we complain. He thinks if the FPV community stays quiet, he can keep doing this without any consequences. I get being a bit weird, but this is just crossing the line.
@Montana
It’s completely messed up. He wants us to stay quiet while he broadcasts this nonsense on YouTube. He thinks being sub 250g gives him a free pass. After I confronted him, he sarcastically mentioned he made a new video just for me explaining his ‘rights’ with sub 250 drones.
@Montana
Sorry, but I can’t agree. It’s not just being an asshole; it’s serious and needs punishment. What if this happened to someone close to you? I’d be furious.

I can’t believe that would be legal. In Germany, this would break several privacy rules and likely some drone laws too.
@Griffin
Same in Finland. The sub 250g rule means nothing when a drone has a camera.

Exactly. I’ve also reached out to some bigger drone YouTubers about this.
Legal or not, this guy’s behavior is completely unacceptable.

Completely agree. I’ve reported him to YouTube and the Toronto police. Fingers crossed something changes.

He’s currently on a YouTube livestream whining about being banned from Reddit
@Sky
That’s comedy gold!

Also, let’s not promote his content here, why give him views
@Ari
If people can’t see it for themselves, that doesn’t really help. If responsible drone pilots don’t back spying on anyone, they can report the video on YouTube. His video can’t be monetized if it gets taken down.
@Oaklan
You did the right thing by contacting the police. They’re the ones who should see that video. Most of us here don’t support that kind of behavior.
@Ari
Isn’t it also for others to report it?

Yes, people should report it to YouTube too. If someone on Reddit finds this video entertaining, then they’re part of the issue.

Good find. I shared it with the Toronto police. Hopefully, if they reach out to him, he’ll get a warning and learn his lesson. But honestly, I can see him being too arrogant to change.

Reporting to the police seems extreme. You’re adding fuel to the fire for those who want to punish the hobby. I reprimanded the pilot myself, but come on. The police won’t do anything; they’ll just tally it for their drone hysteria.
@Vanya
If we want to clear out the bad ones, we need to take action instead of ignoring them.
