Dust inside my DJI Neo... should I be worried?

I was flying my Neo just a couple feet above a dirt path at around 7mph. I noticed it was kicking up some dust, and later when I changed the battery, I saw a bit of dust inside and even on the lens. Just wondering if that little bit of dust can cause any real problems?

Yeah, dust and electronics usually don’t mix too well.

Neo’s electronics are tough, so I wouldn’t stress about that part. I’d be more concerned about dust getting into the gimbal or motor. That can mess things up if it sticks.

do you think an air blower would blow the dust away or just make things worse

Just clean it as best you can and don’t overthink it. The Neo can handle a lot. I once launched from gravel and it started rattling. Took me like 5 minutes of shaking it around to get the tiny rocks out. It’s still flying like a champ after that, plus a bunch of crashes and even mowing a bit of grass and bugs.

damn im guessing it flew like it came right out the box

Trust me, unless you seriously crash it or get really unlucky, it can take a beating. Just keep flying carefully until you’ve got full control. I honestly don’t mind a bit of dirt on mine lol

Oh, and for the record—replacing the frame is like 15€, shipping was around 8.50€ for me. Motors and props are cheap too. The only pricey stuff is the PCB and camera (about $80 each with shipping). So I’d only use DJI Care if one of those gets wrecked.

@Jessie
it really is a tough to break drone. i gotta say its worth buying over the flip or mini 4k

Yeah it’s kind of amazing what you get for the price. Honestly, it’s the perfect fun drone or backup for anyone already using DJI.

@Jessie
btw a high speed handheld fan moving the props wont do damage right

Why would you do that?

i was cleaning my drone

@Jessie
the fan i got can blow up to 45,000 rpms. also, doing that just once wont cause immediate damage right?

@Jessie

so many impacts/lawn mowing/mosquito killing

Lol I had a crash like that too. I was flying low in the backyard and it just shot sideways into the wall for no reason. When I looked at it later, there were bug guts on one of the props!
