I know the EV800D has diversity, but they appear bulkier and seem to have lower overall quality. I also understand that diversity isn’t always better—sometimes a single antenna can provide a stronger signal than a system with diversity. That said, I’d prefer not to get something so poorly made that it leaves me with a negative impression of the hobby.
If you’ve used these goggles, I’d appreciate hearing your feedback.
Eachine EV800D is the best budget option. It has a built-in DVR, and the resolution and field of view are very similar to the Fat Shark Echo. Plus, Fat Shark goggles tend to be more expensive.
I’ve tried both. The Eachine EV800D offers slightly better range and a better display, in my opinion. However, the build quality is much lower. My first EV800D broke while I was plugging it in to charge, and I had to buy a replacement. If you’re flying something like a tiny whoop, where range isn’t a big factor, I’d go with the Fat Shark Echo for its durability.
@Noor
That’s good to know. I’m planning to use them for long-range flying, so range is definitely a priority for me. Would you say the Eachine is better in that regard? I also came across the EV800DM version, which seems to be a newer model. Is it worth considering?
@Ben
For range, the diversity on the EV800D does seem to perform better with my setup. That said, neither goggle offers incredible range for outdoor flying. As for the EV800DM, I think it lacks the detachable screen, which is one of the best features of the EV800D.
Hi everyone, maybe one of you can help me here: I am buying the ECHO googles by Fatshark as the provider cancelled my order for the EV800D with no reasons. I am new in the domain and buying it for my son, to fly his planes RC models. The Googles are displayed with no antenna. Is it something that I should purchase separately ? Thanks for your help.
