Hey everyone, I’m shooting my first business marketing/commercial video for a barber shop tomorrow, and I’m a little nervous. I have some ideas for how to film the place, but I feel like it’s not enough. Could anyone share some tips or filming ideas? I’m flying a DJI Mini 3 Pro for this shoot.
Don’t forget to press ‘record’. Really.

Haha, thanks! I’ve heard of people making that mistake.
What kind of shots are you planning for a barbershop with a drone?

Well, I’m thinking of filming the exterior of the shop, showing its location in the town. Some close-up shots of the building. Filming the building from above and descending slowly. Maybe catch a bit of sunrise or sunset for some extra drama.
@Isan
I’d also recommend doing an ‘up and away’ shot at the end. But keep in mind, you’ve got around 40 minutes per flight to get your shots. And with filming, good light doesn’t last long. Make sure to visit the location beforehand and plan everything. And shoot more than you think you need. It’s easier to cut than to add.

Thank you!

Just adding on to what GDZ said, definitely scout the location first. Look for the best times of day to get the best light for the spot. Also, get an establishing shot, maybe try slider shots too, along with the drone footage. There are YouTube videos that give good examples of cinematic shots to check out. Are you planning to do any interior shots?
@Amory
I’m still thinking about it. I’m a bit nervous to fly the Mini 3 inside, so I think I’ll borrow a DJI gimbal from a buddy for the interior shots.
A good tip is to have a mix of ‘establishing shots’—those higher or wider shots that give some context—and closer shots of things happening outside or inside the shop’s window.

Hi, I’m the social media manager for a barbershop called The Beardsmith, and I use a DJI Neo for some transitional shots and random footage. One thing you should know about using a drone inside a barbershop is that it’s going to be louder and more disruptive than you think, so be sure to let everyone know what’s going on before you launch.
