First time drone buyer needs some help

A few days ago, I took the plunge after watching a lot of videos and reviews, and ordered the DJI Mini Pro 4 through Amazon here in the United States. I thought it would be shipped from a location in the U.S., but it’s coming from China. It’s showing as shipped, but hasn’t moved from China yet.

Last night, I watched yet another video about this drone, and for the first time, I realized there are two very similar models available. I thought the controller that comes with it had a built-in screen, which was a big part of my decision to buy. But I ordered the DJI Mini Pro 4 RC-N2, and apparently, that controller does NOT have the built-in video screen!

Now I was excited but I might need to hold off on my excitement until it arrives, and now everything’s a mess. It looks like I can still cancel the order on Amazon, and I found a support email for DJI, but if I do cancel, do I need to start over and get the DJI RC-2 instead?

If I let the order come and then return it immediately, I’ll be starting the process over. But is it better to let it arrive and somehow upgrade to the controller I thought came with it, the one with the built-in screen? I don’t think you can return part of an Amazon order, can you? If I had the money, I would just look for the right drone and not worry about it, but I don’t because I spent it on this order after all that research.

Did I even go about this the right way? How do I find the DJI RC-2? Is there a way to order it from somewhere in the U.S.? What’s the best way to handle all of this? I’m really confused, and if I’m going to cancel, I probably only have a few hours to do it. Just so confused.

EDIT/UPDATE:

I couldn’t cancel my order since it was already shipped, but I went ahead and ordered the DJI Mini Pro 4 RC-2 FlyMore package through Adorama, and it’s coming tomorrow. I wish I had asked here first instead of just ordering it on Amazon! It’ll be tight, but I’ll wait for the other one to arrive and return it. Then I can get my money back, but if it ends up stuck in customs, and I have 30 days to return it from the order date, that could be a hassle.

THANK YOU ALL for the quick responses. I really appreciate it!

Contact DJI and explain your situation. They’re usually helpful.

You won’t find a solution here.

Cancel it. Reorder through DJI or Adorama or another retailer that has the RC-2 included.

By the way, the RC-2 costs almost $500 separately. Cancel and get what you really wanted.

Let me ask you this: I’m thinking it might be easiest to just order the RC-2, since I found one for $354 that I assume ships from the U.S. because I could get it tomorrow or Saturday. That way, I could have a backup controller if anything goes wrong. But then I read some comments somewhere saying their orders coming from China were getting held up in customs and it’s a mess with paperwork about labor issues, so if I let my order proceed and get it next week, what if I never get it? It just prolongs this situation.

Given your advice, would it work just to let it arrive and buy the controller separately? After reading your comments, I’m really considering canceling and starting fresh.

Only you can decide. I’ve shared what I would do, but whether that’s what you want to do or if it’s good advice  is up to you.

I updated my original post to share what I decided to do.
