Fixed Wing Drones Similar to DJI?

Does anyone make a fixed wing drone that’s as easy to use as a DJI Mini? I’m looking for a long flight time (2-4 hours) fixed wing that I can use to film sports training sessions. It would be great if it could keep video lock on a beacon or track an image. My budget is up to 1000 in my local currency. Any suggestions?

Your budget doesn’t match what you’re asking for.

So there’s no fixed wing equivalent to DJI in this range?

Nope. Fixed wings are harder to fly, so they never took off in the consumer market like quadcopters. I built something similar to what you’re looking for with VTOL, but it cost around $3000-$5000. I even saw a commercial one for $90k!

I’m fine without VTOL, hand launching would work for me.

The big issue with DJI is the tracking; I can deal with 30 minutes flight time, but their tracking doesn’t work for what I need. Guess I’ll stick with the Mini for now unless I decide to go for a bigger DJI model.

Wingtra One Gen II goes for around $23k.

I checked the specs, it has a 59-minute flight time, which is less than my build and what you’re looking for. Plus, it lacks thermal imaging. But it’s NDAA-compliant, which is a big advantage.

Mind sharing your build details? I’d love to try something like that.

Are you planning to modify the drone? HEQ’s G-Port gimbal can be adapted to the DJI O3 camera.

I thought there might be some old RQ11 Ravens floating around but all I found was a story about a guy getting arrested for trying to sell one… so that’s probably not an option.

AtomRC makes some good fixed wings that you can add an FPV camera to, even a pan and tilt setup if needed. You might get over an hour of flight time, and with some mods to the payload area, you might squeeze in more batteries for longer flights.
