I’m planning to start flying my drone in London, but I’ve heard mixed things about the logistics and restrictions. I already have my Flyer ID and Operator ID, but I’m curious—how bad is it to fly around London? Any advice on apps or things to watch out for?
Go for it! Just get all the apps you need, stay out of restricted airspace, and keep well away from airports and military bases. You’ll be fine. I fly mine whenever I want.

In London though? I imagine it’s much harder here.
Move to Lincolnshire—I can fly almost everywhere here. It’s great living in the countryside!
You’ve got your Flyer ID and Operator ID already? That’s all you need to start flying.

Yup, got both! Just trying to figure out the best spots and avoid any surprises.
Check out the Ok2Fly app if it’s available in your country. It’s really helpful for figuring out where you can fly.
The restrictions on flying in London aren’t as bad as they seem on apps like Drone Assist. The DJI software also won’t let you take off in restricted zones, but it’s good to research the rules beforehand.
@Devi
Good to know about the DJI software—thanks for pointing that out!
Set up your drone, and the app will guide you on where you can fly. Don’t worry about restricted airspace—the drone won’t let you fly there anyway.
Who’s going to stop you? Just fly and enjoy it!

General safety concerns mostly—like if the drone suddenly falls from the sky onto someone’s head. Also, the public in London can be unpredictable!
@Will
If that happens, I’d flee the scene.
Format your memory card before you start flying—first thing to do!
