Flying near power lines and train tracks, any issues?

Hey everyone, I’m thinking about getting a DJI Phantom 3 Pro, but I have a concern. I live in Eastern Europe where power lines are above ground, and there are four cables just 2 meters from my window. Will this cause interference with my drone?

Also, there’s a park near me that I’d like to fly in, but it’s right next to a railway, about 50 meters away. Could that be a problem too?

Thanks for any advice.

I think your power setup is different from the US. Over here, we use AC, and we don’t have many electrified train lines, so I had to think about your question for a second.

From my experience, flying close to high-voltage AC power lines can cause signal interference. Judging distance can also be tricky. I’d say it’s best to stay away.

Appreciate the insight!

Actually, there’s no such thing as DC power lines for main electricity. The main difference between the US and Europe is voltage and frequency—Europe runs on 230V at 50Hz, while the US uses 120V at 60Hz.

That aside, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) advises against flying near train tracks, overhead cables, and roads since losing control could be dangerous. Before you buy the drone, I’d suggest looking into free drone handling courses. It’ll help you understand the risks better.
