I’ve done a bit of regular photography, but now I’m interested in capturing aerial views of my hikes and travels, like those amazing landscape shots on YouTube. Looking for suggestions on beginner-friendly drones and essential equipment I’ll need.
I know stabilizers are important, but I’m also trying to find a drone that shoots clear, HD pictures without a lot of graininess. I’m planning to buy during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, so any advice on what’s best for a starter setup would be awesome!
I’m pretty new to drone photography myself, and I was recommended DJI. No regrets! The specific model depends on what you want to do and your local drone rules. I went with the Mini series to keep it under 250g. DJI’s website has a lot of helpful info and videos for choosing the right drone.

How’s the video quality with DJI? I’ve been eyeing the DJI Mini 3.
I mostly shoot still photos, but the video quality has been great too, and the image stabilization is really impressive. For a beginner, the Mini series is solid.
DJI is pretty much the best choice in terms of value, quality, and ease of use. The Mini lineup is perfect for travel.
Just remember, you’ll need to carry the drone, spare batteries, and a big controller unless you go with the Neo (but Neo’s video quality isn’t as high—it’s fine for the price, though).
I wish they had a more compact controller option, or let you use your phone only, like with the Neo.
