I found someone selling a brand new DJI Mini 4 Pro for $500, still in the box. I’m tempted to buy it, but I’m unsure about how the warranty would work. What do you all think?
You can get DJI Care Refresh online within 48 hours after activating the drone. It costs around $130 for two years and is totally worth it because DJI has great customer service. They replace your drone quickly if it crashes, up to three times, and they cover flyaways too. I’ve been flying DJI drones for years and always get Care Refresh after learning the hard way. Make sure the seller is legit, though, as there are many scammers out there. This version is the basic one without the digital controller, so you’ll need to use your phone as the screen. I’ve had my Mini 4 Pro since launch and love it. It’s small, great for travel, and perfect for beginners.
@Noor
Thanks for the info! Should I only buy it if the seller is willing to open it up and test it with me? Also, how do you feel about using a phone as the controller screen instead of a built-in screen?
@Reagan
Ask for the serial number from the box and check with DJI’s chat team before buying. They can tell you if there’s any issue with the drone. If the seller refuses to provide the serial number, that’s a red flag.
@Noor
I asked him for the serial number. If he doesn’t get back to me, I guess I’ll have my answer.

Exactly, the serial number is right on the box. Good move.

Yep, smart call.
@Reagan
Using a phone as the screen is mostly about convenience. For $500, this is a good deal. Tell the seller you’ll buy it once you open it up and check it. If they act shady, walk away.

Meet in a public place, like a police station’s safe exchange spot. It’s monitored and safe. Legit sellers will agree to this.

Good idea, I’ll bring a friend and meet in a public place with cameras.
@Reagan
Having a built-in screen is more convenient—less setup and no interruptions from texts or calls. I used an old phone as a dedicated controller screen to avoid interruptions. If the drone is factory sealed, you don’t need to test it on the spot. Just trust your gut. If the seller seems sketchy, pass on it.
@Noor
What’s so special about the screen? I’m curious now.

It’s lighter, has anti-glare, better brightness, an internal SD slot, and a dedicated touchscreen. It’s faster and easier than using your phone. Once you try it, it’s hard to go back to using a phone. Hope that helps!
@Reagan
You can always buy the controller with the screen later and sell the original one if you decide you want the upgrade.
Go with your gut!
Sounds like the Costco deal. I’d check it out.

That’s the only way I’d buy it. If he’s legit, it won’t be a problem.
Sounds like a scam, especially since he dropped the price by $200 without a second thought.

Not ruling it out yet.
