Has anyone used a DJI Mic 2 with a speaker for live teaching?

Hey folks,

I’m a university lecturer with classes of over 50 students, and by the end of the day my voice is shot. I just remembered I have a DJI Mic 2 lying around and wondered—can I use it with a portable speaker as a live mic setup in class?

Would love to avoid buying a full PA system if possible. Anyone here tried something similar? What kind of speaker would I need to make it work? Really appreciate any advice or experience you can share!

If your speaker has a 3.5mm input port, then yes, it should work. Just grab a 3.5mm TRS cable and plug the DJI Mic 2 receiver into the speaker. Should be pretty straightforward.

Yeah, it’s possible. Just plug the receiver into the speaker using an audio cable. You might get some echo though, so it’s a bit of trial and error.

As long as you have the receiver, it should work fine with a basic aux cable. Mine’s paired to my Osmo Pocket so I haven’t tried it myself, but others have.

Do watch out for feedback though—these mics are small and can be sensitive in live settings. Placing the speaker carefully and keeping volume reasonable can help. Also, double check if the mic outputs in stereo, because some speakers are picky about that.

Yep, it’ll work. Just make sure the speaker or PA system you use has a 3.5mm input. Some Bluetooth speakers do, which makes it simpler since they’re battery-powered. If your room is big, you might need more than one speaker for better coverage.

Haha for a second I thought you meant the drone and not the mic. I was so confused!

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it. The DJI mic is omnidirectional, so it’ll pick up everything—including the speaker—which can lead to nasty feedback.

What you really want is something like a cardioid or headset mic, something more focused. I use the Shure BLX system for wireless setups—it’s more of an investment, but way more reliable.

For speakers, stay away from anything flashy with lights. I use a small Samson setup for casual stuff and a couple of Harbinger 12" powered speakers for bigger gigs.

You might want to check out the Samson Expedition XP106wDE—it’s compact and has everything built-in for a basic wireless PA setup.
