How annoying is the DJI Mic Mini receiver poking to the side?

Based on all the reviews, I’ve pretty much landed on the Mic Mini, but the receiver poking to the side of the phone worries me. People with experience - how bad is it? Thanks!

Curious question - why are you buying a receiver if you’re reusing it with your phone?

I’m looking to buy either the whole set or one receiver + one mic kit to use with my phone for vlogs or something. DJI seems like it will provide the best sound quality and features, but the angled receiver could be too annoying in day-to-day use.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have compatibility if I choose to dive deeper into the DJI ecosystem, but that’s not a major motivator at the moment.

Ah, now I understand what you mean. Why not just pair it with the phone via Bluetooth? Based on my research, the audio quality takes a big hit, and you also lose a lot of features, not to mention range.

In my experience, it’s not horrible.

You’re 100% right; if you only pair via Bluetooth, you get audio compression, and the quality isn’t the best.

I’ll be using mine this Sunday to record audio of car engines and exhaust while flying drones for video, so I don’t mind the receiver in my phone. I’m just going to start the recording, set my phone down, or just hold it, get the audio I want, then move on with my shoot.

Get something like this, and the receiver will be angled to be flush against the back of your phone. You could even add a little hook & loop (velcro) between the phone and receiver to keep it stable from bumps and jostles if you’re concerned.
