I’m planning to buy a drone that weighs under 250 grams. Will it come with a registration number, or how do I get one?
If you’re in the US, you can register at http://faadronezone.faa.gov. But if you’re flying recreationally and the drone weighs 0.55 lbs or less, you don’t need to register.

Yep, and if you’ve already registered before, you can log into your account to find your info there.
You can also find the serial number on the controller if you’re using a DJI drone.

Yeah, it is a DJI drone!
Already took care of that, thanks!
Are you asking for the registration number or the serial number? Drones under 250g don’t require a registration number in the US.
Drones don’t come with a registration number; you apply for it, like how cars don’t come with license plates. But if it’s under 250g, you don’t need to register it for recreational use.
The FAA gives you a registration number when you register your drone. It costs $5, and you can do it online. Others have already shared the link to the FAA website.
