It seems this is considered one of the best microphones available, but it does not sound as impressive to me. When I hear others using the same mic, it sounds fantastic. Are there any adjustments I can make or specific software I can use to enhance its sound and fully realize its potential? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Run your audio through Adobe Enhance (free) and it will sound 10x better.
Thanks so much for this advice.
I use a limiter, compressor, exciter, EQ, and a high cut filter in post-production that I created and apply to all recordings. However, the Adobe Enhance suggestion seems like a simpler solution.
While it is a very powerful microphone, anyone expecting perfect, publish-ready sound without any post-processing likely doesn’t have professional audio experience. There’s almost always a need for some post-production work.
Oh wow sounds cool, thanks though.
There was a firmware update in the last month that improves the sound. I would look into that.
The noise-canceling feature affects the clarity of speech. While it’s effective in very noisy environments like an airport lounge, it tends to clip the sound. I prefer to turn off noise canceling and make adjustments in post-production.
I own both versions 1 and 2, and I’ve never been satisfied with the sound directly from the mic. However, after processing them through RX, they’ve performed exceptionally well for several commercial projects. It’s also worth asking whether you’re transmitting directly to the camera or using the audio from the internal recorder on the transmitter. That can make a significant difference! With version 2, you get 32-bit float audio, allowing you to apply virtually any EQ adjustments you need.
The cat tail (wind screen) thingy improved the sound quality noticeably IMO
Ensure that the device you’re using is compliant if you’re connecting via Bluetooth. I found that when I plugged it into a computer and used Bluetooth, the sound was terrible. However, when I connected it to a newer computer, it sounded phenomenal.
Haha, this isn’t even close to the best mic on the market. The top-tier microphones are often priced in the thousands and typically connect to an audio mixer via XLR.
