How to Remove the Update from My Drone?

Hey peeps,

I used to have a drone, but I don’t have it anymore. I noticed that there’s been an update that I can’t seem to remove, and I really just need the video from it.

Does anyone know how to remove the update or access the video without the drone? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, retrieving video footage without the drone itself is highly unlikely due to the following reasons:

Storage Location:

  • Internal Storage or SD Card: Most drone videos are stored on the drone’s internal memory or an SD card.
  • Data Encryption: Many drones use encryption to secure the video data.
  • App Dependency: Accessing and processing the video files usually requires the drone’s dedicated app.

Potential Alternatives:

While it’s difficult to recover video without the drone, you might consider these options:

  • SD Card Recovery: If you still have the SD card, you might try using data recovery software to retrieve some of the footage. However, this method may not always be successful.
  • Drone Manufacturer Support: Reach out to the drone manufacturer to inquire if they can assist with video retrieval. This option is a long shot but worth exploring.

Keep in mind that data recovery can be both costly and time-consuming, with no guarantee of success.

Just remove the accessible SD card from the drone if it is used to store video footage.

If you want to prevent telemetry data from being recorded in the future, adjust your settings on your drone or app. For example, with DJI drones, you can disable the “camera view recording” option in the advanced camera settings.Unfortunately, removing telemetry data from videos that have already been recorded is more challenging. One workaround is to edit the video using video editing software. You can crop out or overlay the telemetry data with other visuals. Look for video editing tools that allow you to remove or hide subtitles or overlays.
