I checked the DJI Fly app before my flight, and it indicates that I’m in an “Altitude Zone.” How can I find out what the height restriction is?

I am over 5 miles away from any airport in a rural area. The Aloft app says I’m clear for takeoff and doesn’t show a grey circle.

However, the DJI Fly app does show my location within a grey circle. Does this circle just indicate the standard 400’ AGL restriction?

Sorry if this is a silly question. I’ve taken the TRUST test and registered the drone with the FAA. I just want to be completely sure I can fly up to the 400’ limit.

DJI Maps are inaccurate in every country except Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, France, Lithuania, Switzerland, and the UK, where legal requirements force DJI to use and update their official maps daily (see news article: DJI’S UPDATES TO ITS GEO SYSTEM).

Check your country’s official map and/or authorized app for accurate information.

DJI’s altitude zones might not reflect actual regulations. Use your B4UFLY app to check for any real restrictions in the airspace.

Don’t rely on the DJI Fly app for determining where you can fly. Instead, download Air Control.

Is the Aloft app enough? I have it installed, and it says my location is clear for takeoff. Is it necessary to upgrade to the Air Control version? I noticed that Aloft can be used without creating an account, while Air Control requires one.

Def use the Air Control app. That one will let you get laanc approval when necessary

You need to consult an airspace map. The DJI app isn’t reliable for this purpose. If you only use the DJI app and don’t check the airspace beforehand, you’ve probably already breached airspace regulations.
