I know this gets asked a lot but still gonna ask anyway… total beginner hereb

I really like taking photos… I don’t mess around too much with editing but I’ve done a little on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I’d like to try more editing on my MacBook Pro. I also want to get into nature and aerial photography since I live near the beaches on Long Island. I ride my E-bike a lot and have a dirt bike too, so getting some action shots would be fun.

I’ve never used a drone before, I’m really just starting out. I plan to go through the flight sims before flying anything for real, but I have no idea which drone to go with.

Everyone keeps pointing to DJI, and I get why—it’s all over the place. The Avata 2 isn’t allowed where I live, but I see I can still get one used or through other sites. I’ve also looked at the Mini 3 Pro and Mini 4 Pro. I don’t really know what specs matter yet, so I’m not sure what sets them apart or if the Mini 3 Pro would do what I want. Basically, I need something that can take good video and pics, and ideally something that could follow me while I’m riding my E-bike or dirt bike. A controller is a must too, so maybe the Avata won’t work for what I want—guessing I can’t really ride and use the goggles at the same time.

Not totally sold on DJI, but it seems like everyone thinks they’re the top brand. I just want to get something that fits my plans, is easy to learn, and won’t leave me wanting to upgrade two months later because I got bored.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Avata 2 isn’t banned in the US. If folks here don’t answer everything (though they probably will :slightly_smiling_face:), YouTube has a ton of videos showing how well different drones do with tracking.

If you go on DJI website and try to buy the avata 2 it says it is not allowed to be sold here.

Thanks for mentioning YouTube… I haven’t gotten around to watching yet but I’ll probably fall into that rabbit hole today lol.
