There seem to be a lot of great deals on refurbished drones, especially the Avata, but is it better than just getting a non-DJI drone instead? Anyone had any experience with this?
I bought a Mini 3 from Best Buy, and you’d never know it wasn’t new.
I’d say go for a refurbished DJI. Honestly, they’re more reliable than any other drones out there.
Bought a refurbished Mini 3 from DJI. It looked brand new. Couldn’t tell it was refurbished at all.
DJI refurbished drones are just like new, but they come at a lower price.
I got my Mini 4 Pro straight from DJI and it didn’t look refurbished to me. Looked brand new!
I got a Mini 2 SE refurbished through their official eBay account. It was in perfect condition! It was only $15 cheaper, but if it’s a good deal, go for it.
Got a Mavic 3 Pro refurbished from DJI and couldn’t tell it wasn’t new.
I’ve bought 2 or 3 refurbished drones directly from DJI and they all felt like new.
Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I think I’m going to go with the Avata 1 since the Avata 2 is out of stock. Appreciate the help!

If that was the $900 version, I almost got the refurb package too. Ended up going for the Black Friday Fly More Combo with 0% interest instead. Made the extra $300 more manageable.
I would’ve gone for refurbished if the Mini 4 Pro was in stock. I’ve heard good things about DJI’s refurbished stuff, not Best Buy though. I avoid them and their protection plans.
Sometimes you can find Amazon ‘used’ or open box deals… They have a good return policy, so you can buy, inspect, and try it. If no issues, add DJI Care and you’ve got an awesome drone with 2 years of protection for less than a new one with no protection.
@Avery
Last I checked, the ‘used-like new’ on Amazon was only $26 off.

Yeah, it’s hit or miss sometimes. I got my Neo for $80 off. 9 out of 10 times, they’re fine. Mine had a grass stain, that’s it.
You can find great deals on eBay. I wouldn’t trust Amazon though; they don’t vet their sellers well.
Yes, but keep in mind that if unpacking is a big deal for you, it might not be for everyone. Also, if you want DJI Refresh, you’ll have to go through their evaluation process instead of signing up easily like with a brand new drone.
