Got a Mini 3 Pro for Christmas, and I’m seeing a lot of ‘oops, look what I did’ posts here.
Curious if anyone has insurance for their drones? Or any experiences with claims? Would love to get some opinions and suggestions.

For me, it’s definitely worth it. I had State Farm cover my Mavic Pro, and after I crashed it, they paid me back everything I’d spent, as long as I had proof of receipt when I set up the policy.

Same here! I pay $60 a year, and it fully covers my Mini 3 Pro.
You have 48 hours from the first time you activate your drone to get DJI Care Refresh, and it’s totally worth it. Would you rather spend $750 on a new one or $65 on a repair?

Plus, if you don’t make a claim during the first year, they extend the coverage for another year. Pretty good deal.
@West
Wait, so if I buy a 1-year plan, it extends to 2 if I don’t use it? Or does the 2-year plan become 3 years?

I only checked the terms for the 1-year plan, since that’s what I went with.
@West
I had no idea about that! Good to know.

This is really helpful, thanks! I was looking at a bunch of third-party options, but this sounds like a no-brainer.
@Zuri
Definitely. It’s great for peace of mind. I had a minor crash, thought everything was fine, but then noticed some damage later. Started the replacement process, and a new one was on its way within a few days.
I have State Farm covering my drones. It’s $42 a year for $1500 coverage, no deductible. They don’t ask questions; if you crash, you send it to DJI, get an estimate, and State Farm deposits the money directly into your account. You decide whether to repair or keep the cash.
Way better than DJI Care, and you can add a drone even if it’s older than 48 hours.
If you’re just flying for fun, you probably don’t need insurance. But if you’re doing commercial work, definitely get it—especially to cover property or potential damages.

@Addison
Are you telling me or the OP?
I’m aware of the differences, just clarifying for anyone new to this.
I went for the 2-year plan. It gives me peace of mind, and I can still fly carefully without worrying too much.
For €40 a year, it’s a no-brainer. Dealing with any ‘Karens’ out there would cost a lot more than that.
Are you asking about DJI’s internal insurance (DJI Care), which covers damage to your drone, or something like SkyWatch, which is more like traditional car insurance?
DJI makes it easy—you just send it in, and they handle everything. SkyWatch is more like car insurance, where you handle the repair or replacement yourself, but it also covers damage to other things, like cars or fences. If you don’t need liability insurance by law and this is your first drone, just get DJI Care and fly safely away from people.
I bought DJI Care when I got my Mini 3 Pro, and I don’t usually go for extended warranties, but this one seemed worth it.
Absolutely worth it. I crashed my Mini 3 Pro three days after buying it and broke the gimbal. Had a replacement in hand within three days thanks to DJI Refresh Express. I’d have been devastated without it.
