Is extended landing gear a good idea for my Mavic 3 Pro?

I just bought a Mavic 3 Pro, and while waiting for it to arrive, I was checking out accessories and found these extended landing gear. I do a lot of agriculture and rural filming, so I thought they might help with clearance on stubble fields and grass. But I’m worried if they’ll affect the drone or cause extra strain. Are they worth buying?

I do a lot of agriculture filming too. I usually take off from tram lines or find a dead spot. If that doesn’t work, I hand launch. You might want to consider getting a landing pad instead to keep dust down. The legs aren’t really necessary.

If you’re hand launching regularly, extended landing gear might actually help.

I don’t hand launch that often, though.

There’s always going to be grass taller than the landing gear. I tried 3D printed legs and didn’t like them. I’d suggest using a weighted landing pad instead. Personally, I just use a bigger car mat when I can.

@Frost
Why not just land it on your hand? :grin:

I do that with my Mini 3 Pro all the time, but I’m still a bit nervous doing it with my Mavic 3. It’s bigger and scarier!

I always hand launch and catch. Avoids mowing the lawn with the props, plus it looks cool.

Yeah, hand catching is awesome.

Hand launch and hand catch—no dust in the drone, no damaged props.

But maybe damaged fingers or face sometimes.

Just wear a falconer’s glove and a hockey mask and you’re all set! Won’t look suspicious at all!

I’ve done it over a hundred times without any issues.

How? I’ve hand launched and caught all sorts of drones, never caught the props. Just keep your hand flat and let it land on your palm.

@Dani
Just because you haven’t, doesn’t mean it can’t happen. I’ve seen videos where people mess up hand catches. Once, my drone sliced my finger when the downward sensors kicked in unexpectedly during an auto-catch. These things are computers—they’re not perfect.

@Dani
If your hand is the size of an Air 3, you must be a giant!

It’s really not that hard. I used to hand launch and catch my Air 3 all the time.

Lol, worst advice ever.

Tried it once, now I’m circumcised.

I tried it and lost my virginity! :laughing:
