Is it normal for the Air 3S to have a high-pitched whine?

Hey everyone,

I just upgraded from a Mini to an Air 3S and noticed something odd. There’s a tinny, high-pitched noise coming from the motors. It’s definitely not the usual propeller sound.

I’ve already flown it for about 2 hours and only picked up on the noise yesterday.

Can anyone with an Air 3 or Air 3S let me know if this is normal? Would appreciate the feedback!

Thanks in advance!

Sounds normal to me. Nothing to worry about.

I had a Mini 4K that did the same thing. It worked fine, but the sound was a bit weird. Unfortunately, I crashed it a couple of days later, so I didn’t get to find out if it would’ve been a long-term issue.

Here’s a clip of mine making that noise:

Yep, that’s normal for these drones.

Totally normal. I was worried about my Mavic 3 making that noise too, but after looking into it, I found out it’s just how these drones are. Weirdly enough, I haven’t really noticed it with my Air 3… but now I bet I’ll start paying attention to it!

The high-pitched sound can definitely be annoying though, especially when you’re trying to focus on flying.

That whine is just the motor sound. If you’ve ever used a cordless drill and barely squeezed the trigger so it spins slowly, you’ll hear a similar high-pitched noise.

Thanks for the video link. I can’t really comment on the noise, but at least now I know how the position lights work. I’ve been trying to figure that out for ages!

Mine makes the same noise, so I guess it’s normal.

Yeah, that’s normal. Mine sounds exactly the same, and so does my Mavic 3 Pro.

Nothing unusual. All the DJI Air 3 and Mavic models have that sound.

Don’t worry, your drone is in good shape. That sound is normal.
