Is it safe to fly in winter?

I have a Mini 3 Pro.

Yes, as long as you check the wind speed. You should be fine.

Battery life will be shorter.

Not necessarily. Keep the battery warm before flying, like in an inner jacket pocket. Once in flight, the battery generates enough heat on its own.

Yes, it’s fine. In very cold temperatures, your battery runtime might be shorter, but the drone itself works just the same.

Avoid flying in extreme conditions like high winds or blizzards. Cold weather by itself won’t damage the drone.

To maximize battery life, keep the batteries warm until just before use. If you’re outdoors for a long time, store them close to your body to maintain their temperature.

Yes, but if you’re in a mountainous area, be cautious of clouds and fog. Also, wearing gloves can help keep your hands warm while flying.

“The DJI Mini 3 Pro’s operating temperature range is -10°C to 40°C (14°F to 104°F). The drone is stable within this range, but avoid using it outside these temperatures for extended periods.”

It worked fine for me at -38°C, but don’t be surprised if it crashes. Your mileage may vary.

Watch out for icing conditions. Ice on the propellers reduces lift and could cause you to lose the drone.

Also, your display device might stop working in the cold. My iPad screen went black during a flight, but I managed to return using visual line of sight. The screen came back after warming up, but it’s something to be mindful of.

Not in NJ.
