Thinking about getting into drones, and I keep seeing people recommend the Mini 4K as a budget-friendly option. It looks like a solid entry-level drone, but I wanted to hear from you guys—
Is it actually worth it, or should I go for something else?

I spent the extra money and got the Mini 4 Pro, and I’ve never regretted it. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made—seriously changed how much time I spend outdoors.
That said, my neighbor has the Mini 4K, and he loves it. It really depends on your budget and what features you care about.
Bottom line: All DJI drones are good quality these days. Just go with what fits your budget (and don’t forget to consider Care Refresh).
@Perrin
Agreed. My Mini 4 Pro is incredible.
Love mine!

Same here!
It’s decent, but I’d go for the Flip or Mini 3 Pro. The Mini 4K doesn’t have obstacle avoidance, and if this is your first drone, you’ll probably want it.

I don’t think obstacle avoidance is a must for beginners. A lot of it comes down to flying smart and using common sense.
Also, the Flip barely has any obstacle avoidance either. If you want full OA, you’ll have to pay Pro-level prices.

The Flip has a front-facing experimental IR sensor. Just get a tried-and-true drone. First-gen products are basically beta tests.

What’s wrong with being a DJI tester?

If you have to ask, you’ve never been an early adopter. It’s a long road full of buggy firmware and bad designs. I’ve been in this space for 15 years—I can spot a bad idea from a mile away.
Mini 4K is a solid drone! Been loving mine.
Mini 4K is good, but I think the Mini 3 has the best value.
It does everything the Mini 4K can, but with a better camera, longer flight time, and native vertical shooting.

Yep, unless budget is a big factor.
Meh, I’d go for the Mini 3 or even the Flip.

Do you actually own a Flip?

No, but I have a Mini 3 Pro and an Avata 2. I’ve owned a few other drones too, just not the Flip.

You’re doing great—those are solid drones. But recommending something you don’t own isn’t the best advice.
Fair point, but for a beginner? First drone? Cheap? You really can’t go wrong with the Flip.
I have the regular Mini 3, and it’s been great. No need for me to upgrade to the Pro. Haven’t tried the 4K, but from what I’ve seen, it’s solid.
Just got the Mini 4 Pro two days ago to replace my OG Mavic Air. Love it so far! Picked up a refurbished Fly More Plus version with the extended batteries for under $1K and added a 2-year Care Refresh. No regrets.
