Is there a better spot to ask questions?

This forum seems to be filled with videos that nobody cares about, and it feels like no one can really answer basic technical questions or provide purchase advice. I get the impression that not many here are doing this professionally and I’m just searching for unbiased advice from knowledgeable people.

Is there a better place for those questions? Thanks a lot. I’m not interested in sunset videos, we all have enough of those.

I think there isn’t much good purchase advice here because people post requests roughly five times a day, and they don’t ask good questions. It’s often something like ‘I’m new to drones, what should I buy?’ and they never share any info about what they really want or need. Or it’s something like ‘Is it worth buying a mini 4 pro or should I wait for that unknown product?’

Those questions are pretty hard to answer, and trying to do so gets exhausting after a while.

@Davi
I agree that basic questions like ‘what drone should I buy’ are way too vague to be helpful. I’m looking for very specific technical questions that can only be answered by watching a professional YouTube channel or asking knowledgeable folks.

I’m looking for answers like, ‘how does using a quad blade prop affect my drone?’, but the responses I get are just, ‘dude, you should get Masterscrews, they look cool’ instead of providing insights about increased air resistance affecting battery life.

Most answers seem to come from either older people who don’t fly but give unrelated advice, or kids who only fly FPV and just want to do risky gaps and dives with bad advice.

Where can I talk about what hardware works best with which drone for shooting cinematic footage in nature?

@Aspen
Your age comments aren’t really helping the conversation either.

Neither is your never-ending comments (or your open keyboard). People like you usually don’t say anything real. That low activity badge says a lot.

It’s people like you, commenting on everything without saying anything useful, that are really contributing to poor discussions.

You say too much, but none of it is helpful.

@Aspen
Adding a quad-blade propeller to your drone, compared to tri-blade or bi-blade, impacts a lot of flight aspects:

  1. Thrust:

More blades = more thrust at lower speeds. Good for quick take-offs or heavier drones (like carrying a GoPro).

  1. Efficiency:

Less efficient than tri- or bi-blades. More drag and power usage since there’s more surface area slicing through the air. This can reduce flight time, especially noticeable with smaller batteries.

  1. Control & Grip:

Gives a sharper feel in corners or when changing direction. Helps with stability when freestyle flying.

  1. Noise:

They’re louder with a deeper pitch. Some pilots like it; others don’t.

  1. Motor Load & Heat:

Heavier load on motors and ESCs, which can lead to overheating if they are underpowered.

  1. Weight:

Slightly heavier props mean a slower response compared to tri-blades.

When to use quad blades:

For freestyle flying to get better grip and control. For cinematic FPV to ensure smooth footage and stability. For flying in tight indoor spaces.

When to avoid:

If racing (where speed and efficiency are key). If you are worried about battery limits or motor temps.

Need help choosing a prop based on your current drone setup or usage?

I’ve noticed your previous posts and comments.

What you’re asking is fairly easy to find out on your own. You seem to be frustrated because others aren’t giving in to your easy questions instead of doing a bit of research.

Here’s a video about flight times with different batteries since you didn’t bother to look yourself.

Here’s a video explaining the differences between analog and digital (DJI doesn’t have analog products).

Here’s a video about the difference between goggles 3 and N3.

People are feeling worn out because of the laziness of folks asking the same question multiple times a day. Personally, I fly drones professionally and use the Mavic 3 Pro and M30T for search and rescue. The questions you’re asking can easily be found with a quick Google search, so you might get sarcastic replies since people are exhausted from repeating themselves.

@Davi
No, they aren’t easy, or I would have answers. As much as everyone downvotes and calls me lazy, those answers aren’t available.

If I’m going to look up a video, there’s no reason to ask here. That’s exactly what the elitist ‘not as professional as you think’ crowd wants me to feel.

If you’re not going to answer the question but instead lecture me about being lazy, wasn’t it you who posted a video instead of just answering someone’s question? You barely read my examples! Those were EXAMPLES, not my real questions!

I don’t want a video. I want someone who knows enough to share their own experiences. That’s why I came to this forum, not YouTube.

What does that say about you? No one here has been helpful. I appreciate you trying to keep the competition away though. Not everyone can be a skilled pilot even with the right gear. If you don’t know anything, don’t answer my post.

Maybe get some humility instead of being smug. What a rude person this is. This forum feels like a place for self-important people.

There are plenty of places to ask questions besides this forum.

I agree, it’s tough here. Not just this forum but many others.

I use Mavicpilots.com and DJI’s official forum when I need help (I usually search for answers using their search feature first).

@Davi
Yes, Mavic Pilots is a great source of information.

You seem vague because DJI makes a lot of products. Are you asking about drones, gimbals, or something else? Are you a hobbyist, a professional filmmaker, or somewhere in between?

Because they even make power stations…

@Davi
It’s vague because every time I ask here or on the official DJI forum, I get no helpful advice at all.

I feel like I need a different forum, which is frustrating since this one feels like it has turned into an ‘amateur drone pilot showcase’ instead of being about all things related to DJI.

I’m hoping someone can provide answers about how much extra flight time a plus battery gives for the Mini 4 pro or share hardware specs based on real experience.

Not ‘I bought a drone and I’m happy with it,’ when I’m asking something different for cinematic FPV freestyle versus nature shots.

@Aspen
There is no official DJI forum.

No, but someone sure did take the name.

Those who give advice get tired of repeating themselves. It makes you realize how many people can’t just figure things out. There’s a constant stream of folks who can’t decide what they want and can’t compare it with what they can afford. Want advice? Ask yourself first and try to find an answer. You might not need any help in the end. No one wants to answer basic questions anymore.

@Davi
In other words, don’t ask questions here. Just share amateur videos instead. Man, forget this ‘community.’ This is the most fake and pathetic forum I’ve ever tried to ask questions in!

I’m a professional photographer/videographer with a lot of drone experience - What are your technical questions?

This is the right place for that. You don’t have to look at the posts where people share videos.

@Davi
I mainly have questions about the different goggle options. I’m also curious about the differences between the 04 units (pro vs non) and how compatible they are.

The one area I lack in my professional setup has always been FPV.

I’m trying to figure out if certain setups perform better or worse for latency while building a setup for specific types of shots using only DJI gear.

If you have any insights, I’ve also noticed (but not confirmed) a non-DJI 10’ drone being flown with DJI gear. I want to know if there’s anything I need to be aware of if I get products from outside the DJI ecosystem.

Any thoughts?

@Aspen
I’m not an FPV specialist, so I can’t help much there. But I’ve owned almost every DJI drone except the FPV models.

For those questions, you might have better luck on a specialized drone forum for FPV.

I did find this link which seems to cover the basics.

https://www.heliguy.com/blogs/knowledge-base/what-is-the-difference-between-the-dji-o4-air-unit-and-the-dji-o4-air-unit-pro/

Sorry, I didn’t realize your questions were FPV specific - I’m more into the traditional photo/video side of things and I know a lot about DJI’s consumer drones except FPV!

There’s a lot of useful info on DJI forums. This forum could be great, but it seems like it’s mostly noisy kids or attention-seeking people.
