Is there any way to use my Mini 2 SE without installing DJI Fly?

A few years ago, I bought the Mini 2 with the controller where you plug your phone in — everything worked great. But recently I reinstalled the DJI Fly app because the version I had wouldn’t open. It worked at first, but that same evening, my phone completely died. The repair shop said there’s no OS left to fix. So now I’m stuck with a new phone I didn’t really want to buy.

I can’t prove 100% that DJI Fly caused it, but it was the only thing I installed that day, and after that my phone was toast. I still want to use my drone, but I don’t trust the DJI Fly app anymore. I checked out Litchi, but it doesn’t support the Mini 2 SE.

So now I’m wondering — is there any way to fly the Mini 2 SE without using DJI Fly? I saw there’s a controller with a built-in screen, but I don’t think it works with this drone either.

Is my Mini 2 basically useless unless I risk bricking my new phone again?

Edit: I can’t reply to anyone right now because this account is new and I mostly just lurk.

Whether or not DJI Fly really caused my phone to crash doesn’t matter anymore — I just don’t trust it. And I’ve never installed any other APK before, so it’s hard not to feel suspicious.

Just try searching around — I’ve seen a lot of people talk about Litchi. Haven’t tried it myself though.
