Is this a good buy or a scam?

Thinking of grabbing this deal, but not sure if I should trust it. What do you all think?

The seller has been on Facebook since 2020 and has listed other stuff for sale. I noticed that a leather camera bag he sold has the same chipped paint in the background, which makes it seem legit. But still, meet in person and test it before paying.

Good eye, you really checked that out!

It just means he took the pictures in the same spot.

If you’re worried about it being fake, just ask to test fly it.

Should be common sense to do that, fake or not.

Also, when you connect it to your phone or tablet, make sure you can log into your DJI Fly account and bind it. If it’s still locked to someone else, it’s basically useless.

$1000 isn’t a crazy low price, so it might be legit.

The listing says ‘DJI Air 3S,’ but I think it’s just an Air 3. The ND filters look like the ones for an Air 3, not a 3S. The two models have different cameras, so their filters aren’t the same. Those might be aftermarket ND filters from Freewell. Meet up to check if it’s really a 3S or just an Air 3.

@Fraser
Yeah, I noticed that too. My 3S filters don’t match what’s in the pictures.

Exactly, the bodies look similar, but the cameras are shaped differently.

That’s 100% an Air 3, not a 3S. If it’s in great shape, maybe worth $850. If it came with the RC 2, then it would be a solid deal. But never buy without test flying first and making sure it’s not still linked to someone else’s account.

Had two scammers on OfferUp recently. They agreed to meet in person but then ghosted me when I asked them to charge it up so we could unbind it. Suddenly, they were ‘out of town’ and wanted to ship it instead. DJI drones are hard to fake, but stolen ones pop up. I found a Mini 4 Pro that was flagged as stolen when I checked with DJI. Never do shipping unless it’s through a platform with buyer protection.

‘No cosmetic damage’ sounds weirdly specific. Could mean there’s other damage, like water issues. Definitely test fly it first.

If it checks out, that’s a solid pickup.

That’s a crazy good price for an Air 3!

Has it ever been crashed or dropped?

Marketplace has saved me a ton on DJI stuff.

Yep, it’s an Air 3, not a 3S. Decent deal, but not an insane one.

If someone’s just trying to get rid of it, maybe. I paid $1480 for a similar setup. If it’s an Air 3, $1000 seems fair, but a 3S would usually go for more.

Golden rule for Marketplace: always pay in cash and only buy local.

Check it in person, test fly it, and confirm it’s unbound from any DJI account before handing over money. If you can meet the seller somewhere you can actually fly it, and everything checks out, go for it.

But like others said, it looks like an Air 3, not a 3S. Double-check the model before buying.

I wouldn’t pay $1000 for a used Air 3.
