Is This DJI Battery Fake or Just a Mistake?

I purchased this DJI Mini 3 Pro Battery Plus in Shenzhen. The battery looks genuine, charges in the dock, and powers up the drone. It came with all the manuals and paperwork in the box, and it has a serial number. The controller recognizes the battery’s serial number, but the drone shows an error saying “Unofficial battery unable to take off.” The battery appears real, so I’m wondering if it’s a well-made fake or possibly geoblocked. I’d appreciate any advice or solutions.

Hi there. Please follow these steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Make sure your DJI FLY app is up to date.
  2. Check if both the drone and remote controller firmware are the latest versions.
  3. Remove the battery and reinsert it. Make sure you hear a click when it’s in place. Then reboot your drone, reconnect it to the remote, and check if the issue goes away. Let us know what happens.

@Keir
As someone else pointed out in their comment, the sticker on the bottom of the box spells ‘Intelligent Flight’ as ‘Intelligent Fiight’. I will be happy to provide more info.

@Keir
Thanks for the response. I’ve updated everything, but the error still appears: ‘Non-DJI battery detected. Aircraft unable to fly (Code: 1610004F).’ Should I contact official support, or is there something else I can do?

@Parrish
Thanks for the update. Could you please send us the serial number of the battery through a private message? We’ll look into it further.

This could be related to the drone not having the latest firmware version. The ‘Plus’ battery is heavier than the regular one, and drones sometimes show warnings if it’s over 249 grams. I’ve seen drones with outdated firmware act weird when using this battery.

@Storm
I’ve already updated the firmware. Thanks for the suggestion.

Check the name on the box. It says ‘Dji Mini 3 Pro Inteligent Fiight’ instead of ‘Intelligent Flight.’ This is a clear sign it’s a fake.

That’s it. They spelled flight wrong. Definitely a fake, unfortunately.

@Eli
I see it now. Thanks for pointing that out.

Not necessarily. It could just be the store’s label. That mistake doesn’t mean it’s fake.

@Zuri
It might be a mistake, but poor grammar is often a sign of scams. It’s more likely to be fake than not, especially when something is rushed or not done properly. I would be cautious.

@Zuri
That typo is probably just part of the manufacturer’s label.

But why would it only be on the barcode sticker? Seems suspicious to me.

I found some pictures online, and they show the label as ‘DJI Mini 3 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery Plus,’ like this: image. The box looks the same too, so I’m still unsure. Thanks for the input.

@Parrish
The sticker on the back spells ‘Flight’ as ‘Fiight.’

Ah, I didn’t notice that. Thanks!

It might be easier for DJI to figure out if the serial number wasn’t obscured.

Is there a standard format for the serial number?

I think there might be. Either way, DJI won’t be able to help if the serial number is unclear.
