Hey everyone, I’m on the hunt for a budget-friendly drone to get started. Don’t want to splurge until I get the hang of it. Thanks for any tips!
So, what did you end up getting? I’m leaning toward the Mini 2 myself, but is that still a solid choice?

$429 for the Mini 2?! Might as well go for a bigger drone if you’re going to spend that much.
Since you’re on a budget, check out this list of cheap drones. Most are in the $120-$500 range. The DJI Mini 2 or Mini 3 is probably the best beginner drone for that balance of quality and price. Lightweight, easy to fly, with a solid camera. The Mini 2 is super beginner-friendly!
@Keir
Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated.
It depends on how serious you are about drones. The Mini 2 and Mini 3 are great, but if you’re just testing the waters, the Mini SE is also a solid, affordable choice. Easy to sell later if you want to upgrade too.
The Mini 2 is a good choice for a first drone. It’s reliable and has safety features like hovering if you lose control. Plus, if you decide to upgrade later, it won’t be hard to sell. I have one and love it!
@Piper
Same here. I’d totally recommend the Mini!
Mini 3 SE is around $300 and takes photos as good as most phones. Perfect choice for beginners.
Check out the C-Fly Faith2 or Faith2 Pro. Solid beginner drones!

Thanks! They look pretty solid for the price.
Thanks, everyone! I ended up going with the Potensic Atom SE for $350 AUD. Great entry-level drone with a lot of features for the price. I’ll probably upgrade later on once I’m more experienced.

How’s it working out for you so far?
@Teal
It’s actually a great little drone! Really user-friendly with decent battery life. I’d definitely recommend it to other beginners.
DJI Mini 2 or Mini 3 would be great. They’re reasonably priced, easy to fly, and the camera quality is solid.
Which drone did you go with? How’s it holding up?
Anyone know if the DJI Mini 3 SE can be used with FPV goggles?
