I live in a big city and price isn’t a huge issue. I want to shoot music videos, POV shots, and some third-person stuff.
I heard if you don’t get the RC-N3 remote, the Neo’s range and speed get limited. Is that true?
If I do get the remote, does the drone still use WiFi or can I fly it in a remote place?
If I fly it in a crowded spot like Times Square, will it accidentally follow someone else if I bump into them?
Also, if I find the Mini 4 Pro at Costco for a good price, is it better than the Neo? Does the Mini 4 Pro follow people automatically or do you have to control it manually?
The Neo’s speed is limited if you only use your phone. If you get the remote, it uses Ocusync instead of WiFi, and even without the remote it creates a local network so you can fly anywhere. It shouldn’t start following random people, but just so you know, flying in Times Square is illegal. The Mini 4 Pro is way better and does follow people automatically.

Even with the remote that connects the phone screen? And yeah, I was just using Times Square as an example — does it track people in crowds?
Yes, even the remote that connects to your phone. Also, check local laws about flying in crowded places. Around here, flying over dense crowds is illegal. Not sure about US laws though.
I find the Neo way more fun than the Mini. The Mini has better camera and flight time, but the Neo is more versatile. You can fly it FPV, with the normal remote (RCN3), with or without a phone.
The farthest I flew was about a mile with the remote and still had good range left. Battery limits distance mostly. Max speed in sport mode is around 17 mph, but if you fly only on your phone it’s slower, like 7 mph.
The Neo’s tracking is pretty good. It can follow you even if you walk around or behind people, though it sometimes gets confused.
What I love is you can fly manual, AI, or with all safety modes. It’s super durable — I crashed mine many times with just scratches. Fell 130 feet on grass and still worked fine. It feels almost indestructible.

I agree. The Neo’s low weight makes it great for trying new things. It doesn’t cause damage on impact and flies indoors well without blowing stuff around. The follow mode works indoors too since it uses the camera to avoid obstacles.
@Parker
I totally agree! The Neo’s versatility is awesome.
I use FPV Controller 3 and Goggles N3 instead of the RCN3 for FPV flying. The controls and video link are great. The range is mostly limited by battery since it auto-lands when low.
The tracking works better than I expected but can get confused sometimes. Still, it’s a great built-in feature that doesn’t need extra gear or upgrades.
If you’re in a big city, keep a few things in mind:
The Neo has built-in prop guards so you might be allowed to fly it briefly above people, but check local rules. Mini drones are quite safe — millions sold last year in the US with zero accidental deaths.
The Neo is smaller than the Mini 4 Pro, so it feels less scary to people, but it’s louder and whinier so more noticeable.
The Neo handles wind worse than the Mini 4 Pro. I’ve lost my Neo in wind where I could still find my Mini.
You might also look at the Mini 4K — it’s similar to the Mini 4 Pro but cheaper. For the price of a Mini 4 Pro, you could get both a Neo and a Mini 4K.
I bought both the Neo and Mini Pro 4 with the RC2 controller earlier this year but mostly fly the Neo. It’s an amazing drone. I used to fly tiny whoop-style drones, and the Neo beats them in almost every way. Great video, control, and flight time — especially with goggles.
I’ve done some great flights with the Mini Pro 4 too, including flying 4.5 miles. But flying over trees or water can get boring. The Neo is way more fun. I even built a course in my yard with pool noodles as gates. The follow mode works really well — I made a trail running video on YouTube that shows it perfectly.
