Did the guy at least have a license for flying drones?
Definitely seems like a hobbyist thing.

From the article:
“Joshua Brydon, 37, from Woodland, ended up in court because he was accused of setting off homemade bombs near people’s homes using fireworks, propane tanks, and other materials. Some of the blasts were strong enough to knock things off walls. Several of these devices were dropped by drones, according to court records.”
“It looks like Brydon was targeting people who had problems with a former member of the local board or his father-in-law, the road commissioner.”
“He was arrested on October 12 and charged with arson, stalking, illegal use of explosives, and endangering a child. There was also a separate firearms charge.”
“His bail was reduced from $100,000 to $25,000 with conditions, including staying away from the victims.”
“The investigation took 18 months and involved the FBI, ATF, and Homeland Security. The drones and bomb materials were seized.”
@Vale
How do I get a lawyer that good to reduce bail by $75,000?
@Vale
This sounds like terrorism. Why isn’t he being charged for that?

Considering the FBI and Homeland Security are involved, maybe they just haven’t filed those charges yet.
@Vale
Let’s hope so. Those agencies usually take their time with these kinds of cases.
What a reckless and dangerous person… But I did accidentally drop some Peanut M&Ms on my folks’ truck once while trying to deliver them with my drone.

Haha, I hope they were outside catching them!
@Kris
Nope, they weren’t outside. And the M&Ms ended up scattered all over the truck because the drop system I built was faulty. The string got tangled in the drone’s motor, causing it to crash from 250 feet. It landed hard on the roof and then fell another 70 feet onto the marble floor. All on their property, by the way…
@Kris
Glad there were no birds nearby!
He could’ve just used water balloons instead of explosives and saved himself a lot of trouble.
Isn’t this the same guy who got busted for counterfeit money a few years ago? Hope they throw the book at him this time.
This should be treated like attempted murder or terrorism. If they don’t crack down now, it’s only going to get worse.
Maine is basically the Florida of the northeast… glad I don’t live there anymore.
This is really more about explosives than drones if you think about it.
Politics is such a mess.
