Mavic Pro (1st gen) & Mavic Mini >>> Upgrade Direction? Flip or Mini 4 Pro?

As the title mentions, I have both the OG Mavic Pro and the Mavic Mini 1st gen… I really dislike having to tether my phone to the controller. The RC2 isn’t compatible with either… I mostly do light vlogs or some fishing content; I can follow the boat myself, unless I’m alone? Hmm. Looking to find out if getting the Flip would be a good addition to my gear or if I should simply replace both my older models and sell them on Marketplace? Or should I go for the Mini 4 Pro since it offers tracking and more? It is a couple of years old at this point, is that a bad option?

If it meets your needs, go for the 4. The future with tariffs and regulations is uncertain.

I’d suggest the Flip for solo content, but since you’ll be doing boat stuff, the Mini 4 Pro would be a better choice since it tracks objects, not just people, while the Flip is fun to fly with its autonomous follow modes and controller-free flying.

I’ve had the DJI Flip for a month. I got it because I planned on starting small vlogs and wanted a solid drone that allows me to be completely autonomous during flights. I’ve tested it in various conditions in follow mode for downhill mountain biking and for capturing panoramas and historical monuments using many available modes.

I think it performs well, and for the price compared to the DJI Mini 4 Pro, I’m really happy with my purchase.

I wish I could share the photos and videos I took, but the files are too large for the forum. If you’d like, reach out to me privately. I might be able to send them.

Thanks! It seems like the Flip really is a solid choice for the money.

I’ve crashed my drone into trees multiple times at high speed, thinking it was ruined, but each time I got it back on its feet and it worked perfectly. I’ve only broken two propellers because it got carried off in the wind and hit hard into a bunch of bushes. It’s a fantastic drone. I even tested its waterproof ability by leaving it stuck in a tree overnight; we had to saw off the branch the next day, and it had no scratches and still worked great. I also filmed a windmill in the rain, and it held up just fine.

The Flip is very underrated, and people seem to hate on it for no reason. The only issue I found is that it’s a bit noisy and not the best in the wind. But aside from that, it’s outstanding for the price. It has the same camera as the MP4 and Air S.

Thanks. I ordered the Flip! With the RC2. I’m excited!

Mini 4 Pro is the way to go!

Wait for the Mini 5 Pro.

Depends on whether he’s in the United States. That could be bad advice.
