Mini 4 Pro overheating... anyone else having this issue?

My Mini 4 Pro recently has been overheating a lot more consistently, with the warning of “cpu overheating”, I’m flying it with active track and other modes, not staying still and letting the air cool it as it flies as it’s supposed to, all of a sudden it wants to land since it’s overheating. Is there a fix that’s easy for it?

What temp is it where you’re flying? If it’s not above 40°C, you might have airflow issues or something’s blocking the vents.

It’s about 31°C. Pretty warm, but I figured flying around would help keep it cool since that’s its main cooling method.

@Kai
Yeah, 31°C isn’t bad. I’ve flown my Air 2S, Air 3S, Mavic 3 Pro, and now the Mavic 4 Pro in 35–38°C with no problems. Those models have fans that kick in to cool them off even indoors. Do you hear any fans running or feel any airflow from yours?

@Dezi
Mini 4 Pro doesn’t have fans to keep the weight low. It relies on air movement, which makes it easier to overheat.

Was the drone sitting in a hot car or direct sun before flying? Also, if you hovered more than moved, that could make things worse since there’s less airflow over the body.

Ah okay, makes sense. The specs say it can handle -10°C to 40°C, but maybe that’s internal temp, not external. :man_shrugging:

Yeah, the Mini doesn’t have internal fans. If vents are blocked or you’re flying in a mode that works the processor hard, that can lead to overheating on warmer days.

You didn’t fly with the gimbal cover still on, did you?

Nah, that pic was taken after the flight lol.

Was gonna ask the same thing!

I’ve flown mine in Southeast Asia in peak heat, swapping through four batteries without a break, and no overheating. Maybe you’ve got dust buildup inside messing with airflow? DJI Care might help clean it, or try opening it carefully at your own risk.

Where are you flying? I’m in Arizona and the heat limits me to early morning or sunset flights.

I’m in NC. It’s been hot lately but yesterday it overheated even with cloud cover.

Same here. It’s been too hot to fly mine lately. I really can’t afford problems since I use it for serious stuff.

Yeah, I do like that it slows down and comes back safely when it detects overheating. Gives me some peace of mind.

@Kai
Absolutely. These things are really smart. DJI thought of a lot when they built this.

Could be worth checking the thermal paste or changing your flying habits—more movement means more airflow over the body to help cool it down.

Might be a battery overheating issue. Try swapping in another one and see if it still happens.

It says ‘Aircraft Processor Overheated’—that’s not a battery issue.
