I’m hoping to grab a deal during Black Friday and finally pick up a drone. I’m a first-time buyer but feel pretty confident about flying safely and carefully. I just can’t decide between the Mini 4K and the Mini 3. Any advice?
Mini 3 definitely has a much better camera. If picture quality is a big factor, go for the Mini 3.
The extended battery for the Mini 3 and the option to use the DJI RC controller are great features.
Just a heads-up: the ‘Mini 4K’ is actually the Mini 2 with a different name. So it’s really a choice between the Mini 2 and the Mini 3 here, which might make the decision easier!
The Mini 4K is still a solid option and great for beginners, especially if you’ve got a creative eye. I started with it and got a lot out of it. Now I have the Mini 4 Pro, and the camera upgrades, like a bigger sensor and the ability to shoot at night, have been amazing. But if it’s about just getting into the hobby and having something reliable, the Mini 4K is totally worth it. It lets you capture shots and angles that are unique and can be a lot of fun, especially if you have any photography background.
I had the Mini 4K—great starter drone, but if you can stretch your budget a little, the Mini 4 Pro is worth it for extra features like Hyperlapse and waypoint flying.

I’m a university student, so I don’t have the extra cash to spare, especially for something I’m not sure how much I’ll use.
@Teo
In that case, the Mini 3 would be a solid choice. It’s kind of like the Mini 4 Pro but without all the high-end extras. I’d also recommend getting DJI Refresh for insurance. The Mini 3’s extended battery life could be a big plus if you’re new to drones and need that extra time.
Mini 4K battery: 20-24 minutes
Mini 3 battery: 25-30 minutes
Battery life varies by how and where you fly, but hopefully this helps you out. Good luck!
