What is the cloth tape for?

It’s a blanket to keep the drone warm

Blocking the cooling vents, helps to keep the warmth a little longer. I warmed up the batteries inside at home from 100% to 95%.

That’s a good idea. I was flying my mini 2 last night in 20F and even though the batts were warm I didn’t get much time out of them.
@Hayes
I get about 10-15min less time in this kind of cold and lately it’s been so nice out but too bloody cold for the drone. -25C is too cold for long flights but if there was minimal wind and I had a place in mind to get some pics/video I’d be fine.
Disable your sensors too next time. Ice buildup on them will make the drone panic

So that’s what it is. The panic is good in a way that it made me bring it back sooner (under 2min)
@LizCampbell
Yep! Ice build up and flying low over water (like going under a bridge) are when I disable sensor
All that for a couple of terrible shots.

Unfortunately it’s true. If you are going to risk your drone like that, at least come back with some killer shots.

I got some great shots of Northgate Seattle in November 2022 when a blizzard hit, all from the comfort of an adjustable base with the massage on in the Mattress Firm.

It’s a first cold test fly here, a lot of new territory. I consider learning some without breaking anything a win. Thought about flying over that frozen river in the back (St. Lawrence, not easy to freeze the warm industry water from all the Great Lakes), but glad not on the first time.

Lol this forum is so toxic.

The person who posted this probably ruined his drone and it was for nothing. Even if the shots were amazing it’s not worth the cost of the drone.
@JacksonHarper
How’s it ruined?
@JacksonHarper
If you have DJI care the risk is minimal. It’s just a tool. Get the shot you want when you want it. Stop worrying and treating it like it’s a baby.

This is such a ridiculous take it’s not worth arguing it.
