My Air 3S crashed like a hammer today… what now?

Only had it for 5 days, and it already hit the ground harder than I expected. My last two DJI drones were super durable, so this is disappointing. Anyone know how long DJI takes to repair or replace under warranty?

I don’t know the exact time, but if you haven’t already, you should definitely get DJI Care Refresh.

Quick question—if I use DJI Care Express, do they send a replacement from China, or do they ship locally?

@Barrett
If it’s a new or refurbished one, it usually comes from China via DHL, at least until they restock in the US. Repairs are handled locally, though.

Wish they’d make these things tougher.

Honestly, my Air 2S survived some wild crashes without any serious damage. This just feels like bad luck.

Man, I know the feeling. My old Mavic Pro once fell 10–12 feet after hitting tree branches, and it only had a couple of scratches. They really don’t build them the same anymore.

I mean, they have to balance being light with being strong. And let’s be real, crashes are part of their business model.

Did this happen while using Return to Home?

Nope, wasn’t using RTH.

What exactly happened? Did it just slam down?

Yeah, it started landing normally, then suddenly the props sped up and forced it down hard.

That’s worrying. Makes me think I should hold on to my Air 2S for now. I got the Air 3S last week but haven’t flown it much because of rain.

Mine hit the ground on its first day too. I fixed it myself, but if DJI is reasonable, go through them.

Did you just use some super glue or something?

From what I’ve read here, repairs usually take 5–7 business days after DJI receives the drone. Express Refresh might be quicker. Sorry about your drone! Was it just a hard landing, or was there more to it?

@Fane
It started landing like normal, but then the props went full speed downwards. No idea what caused it.

Wow, that’s wild. Definitely send DJI your flight logs, and if you have any video, include that too. Sounds like it might be a defect or firmware issue. Hopefully, they’ll replace it for free. Let us know what happens!
