My drone's arm broke off... how do I fix it?

Is this something I can fix myself? Or how do I go about making it work again? Drone still starts as normal and no error codes show up in DJI Fly.

It fell from two meters while being folded out.

You should reach out to DJI for a repair ticket. They are quick and their prices are fair. Most of the time, you’ll get a refurbished drone for the cost of the arm repair. Messing with it yourself can be tricky unless you know how to handle electronics.

I think everyone is on the same page here. Just send it to DJI for a fix.

Looks like the ARM AXIS is broken. This should be an easy fix for about $10. A DIY job with just 5 screws.

The part you need is called the Mini 4 pro front rotating axis. You will need a specific screwdriver, but the repair isn’t hard. It shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes.

Just watch out not to drop any screws inside the drone; that could turn it into a bigger task.

@Val
You need a T5 torx screwdriver. It’s not exactly special, but not everyone has one in their toolkit.

I guess not finding it in a regular toolbox makes it special haha. But thanks for the info.

@Val
It’s just a different point of view. I think a tool is special if it’s used for a specific purpose that’s not common.

In car repairs, tools like a crank pulley tool are special because they have a unique functionality. But I’d say an 11mm spanner isn’t special.

Any decent precision screwdriver set will have a bunch of torx bits.

It’s funny how arguments come about over small things. I’m giving this an upvote just for the effort in writing that out.

It’s the front arm axis. This part is common to Mini 3, 3 Pro and 4 Pro. It costs about €5 to €10. Just need a quality T5 torx screwdriver to remove 5 screws. No need for soldering or any electrical experience despite what people might say.

If you know what you’re doing, you can totally fix it yourself.

Sounds like dislocating a shoulder.

Have you tried turning it off and back on?

If you can’t access DJI support, this is a pretty straightforward fix. There are lots of YouTube tutorials, and you’ll just need to buy a replacement arm hinge that shouldn’t cost more than 10 bucks. I fixed mine in less than half an hour.

DJI’s service is really good. They sometimes even offer half the price for repairs. I had to replace my arm for the Mini 2, and it only cost €56.

I’ve had this happen twice, and I used DJI. The repair was around $75. Worth every penny!

Why not just use some super glue and call it a day?

Just contact DJI, and they will handle it for you quickly.

Put it in rice :smiley: I was able to repair my Mini 2 when it had the same issue. You’ll definitely need a new arm and maybe a new shell since it can be tricky to remove. Just desolder the broken one, solder on the new one, and put it back together. It worked for me :slight_smile:

I faced a similar issue. I sent mine to DJI, and they repaired and returned it within a week. It cost me £40, so it wasn’t too pricey.
