I’m looking for a release system for my drone to drop bait while fishing on a large lake. Anyone got recommendations for a reliable setup? Thanks in advance!
Nice try, Ukraine.

Lol, I think they’ve got that figured out already.

Yeah, Ukraine’s probably ahead of us on that one.

They tried it and succeeded… as they should.
Just don’t go with SpaceX’s latest model… they’re still working out the kinks.

Didn’t know they made those, lol.

Just joking about their rocket launch yesterday. It failed to separate and had to self-destruct. Not the best day for SpaceX.

After yesterday’s rocket launch, I’d be careful with anything from them.

Actually, the launch went better than expected… it nearly reached space on its first test flight.
I got this one off AliExpress for half the price, and it works pretty well. It might not be as good as the $200 ones that some people use for fishing, but it gets the job done: (3 in 1) FLYDrone Mavic Air 2S Landing Gear with Airdrop System Mavic Air 2 Light Landing Gear Payload/Delivery/Transport Release for DJI Air 2S Wedding Clip/Fishing Line with Bait Ring Thrower. Make sure to check your local laws. Drones are usually banned for hunting, and there might be similar rules for fishing.
Carrying and dropping stuff with a drone is illegal in a lot of places. Depends where you’re at.

I’m pretty sure there are no restrictions against it in my country.

Where are you? From your post history, it looks like you’re in the UK, and they don’t allow dropping items from drones.

Got it. Someone mentioned it before, but a servo connected to a small Arduino or ESC can work as a drop system, or you can use a light sensor that triggers when you turn on the drone’s LED lights. Depends on your drone model. Tons of videos on YouTube about it. Here’s one example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm1EgAaD-jw

Well, even for grenade fishing I guess…

Looks like the drone police have joined the chat…
